Hit a tree during the hole and still make par or better.
If any shot on a hole strikes a tree (witnessed or honestly confessed) and you still make par, you earn a barkie. Some groups require the ball to hit the trunk, others count any part of the tree.
1 dot from each opponent. Double Barkie: two trees on one hole doubles the bet in some groups; others double it for a birdie after hitting a tree. 'Arbor Day' variant: after hitting a tree you may double the bet that you'll still make par.
The only time in golf you cheer when your ball hits a tree.
