Ferret: hole out from off the green with a non-putter; Golden Ferret: hole out from a bunker.
A ferret is knocking the ball into the hole from off the green with any club except a putter, from one foot or 150 yards. A golden ferret is holing out from a bunker. UK 'funnies' versions require the hole-out to be for par or better. Announce it and collect from everyone.
Ferret = 1 unit from each opponent; Golden Ferret most commonly worth double (e.g. $2 vs $1). Some groups score a Ferret as 1 point and a Desert Ferret (from a bunker) as 3 points.
Gives the greatest shot in club golf a name and a price.
