How to play

Whenever you swing at a ball in a bunker and it stays in that bunker, you have earned a mole and owe each opponent the agreed value. It keeps accruing with every additional failed escape. You do not have to reach the green, only get out of the sand.

Scoring

-1 unit to each opponent per mole (e.g. $1 each). Frequently paired with Sandies so bunkers carry both upside and downside.

Variations

  • Only greenside bunkers
  • Progressive: second failed escape costs double
  • Zoo's camel is the transferable version

Tips

  • Take enough loft and get out first, save par second
  • A mole plus a sandie on the same hole is possible (out on the second try, up and down for par)

Adds a comedic tax to the most embarrassing shot in golf.
